Hyundai Bayon Engine and Power

The Bayon uses a four-cylinder 1.5L MPi petrol engine. It makes 115 PS of power and 143.8 Nm of torque.

This is not a new engine. Hyundai says it has sold more than 6 lakh vehicles with this engine in India since 2020. That shows buyers already trust it. Hyundai calls it smooth and refined for daily use.

Transmission Options: Manual or iVT

You get two choices with the Hyundai Bayon.

  • 6-speed Manual Transmission (6MT)
  • Intelligent Variable Transmission (iVT)

The manual suits those who like full control. The iVT suits city traffic and long drives where you want an easy drive. Hyundai says the iVT gives smooth power delivery and good efficiency. It also stays responsive when you need it.

Dash Boost Mode and Sporty Drive Tech

The iVT version gets two special features.

Dash Boost Mode gives an instant power boost. It helps when you want to overtake quickly on the highway.

Sporty Drive Tech gives a sportier and more connected feel when you accelerate. Hyundai says it makes the drive more engaging.

Both features come with the iVT option only.

Paddle Shifters and Drive Modes

The Hyundai Bayon has paddle shifters. You can control the gearbox response from the steering wheel itself.

It also gets three drive modes:

  • Eco Mode: Helps save fuel.
  • Normal Mode: A balance of performance and efficiency for daily driving.
  • Sport Mode: A more responsive drive.

A Drive Mode button on the steering wheel lets you switch between them easily.

Made for City and Highway

Hyundai says the Bayon is built for both city roads and highways. In traffic, the refined engine and smooth iVT should keep the drive comfortable. On the highway, Sport Mode, paddle shifters and Dash Boost Mode should help with overtaking.

Tarun Garg, MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor India, said performance is “not defined solely by power figures.” He explained that what matters is how naturally the car responds to the driver in daily use. He added that the Bayon follows Hyundai’s “Intelligence That Moves” idea.
